Weekly Preview 26th August

Touch wood but our first team have dragged themselves out of the relegation zone thanks to some strong performances over the last few weeks and are now placed 10th. The season isn't over and there are still some must-win games to come. The seconds have a tough ask to gain promotion with the league title now mathematically impossible. They currently sit fifth with 2nd place East Bierley just 16 points ahead. The third team have slipped from the top of the table down to sixth after a few tough weeks for availability.

This week sees our Bradford League sides take on Carlton and the 3rd team away at Shipley Providence. Our Sunday team are away at Morley and on Monday our evening League side will be at Northowram Fields for the Bradford Evening League finals day. They'll be in action from 11am for their semi-final with the final being held later that day. Come along to support if you're at a loose end!

Baildon 1st XI v Carlton 1st XI - Jenny Lane @ 12:30

Match Day sponsor: Darren Barber

It was an unusual method of gaining 20 points last week as Batley walked off the field during our chase after bowling them out for 131. Kevin McDermott was not out on 24 when the game was abandoned. Suffice to say we'd rather score those points by playing cricket. The wickets had been shared around the bowlers with Raman Athwal picking up 3. Moving onto this week, a winnable game against Carlton who are 20 points ahead of us in 7th.

Team: K McDermott, C Reynolds, J Reynolds, M Khan, S Mather, S Kelly, R Athwal, J Barron-Toop, J Ford, M Khan, J Capper.

Baildon 2nd XI v Carlton 2nd XI - Carlton CC @ 12:30

A disappointing loss to Bradford and Bingley last week as after bowling them our for 127 we fell short in our chase. We probably let them score too many runs on a tricky track to bat on after opening bowlers Harry Brook-Dobson (4-30) and Haris Hussain (2-26) had restricted them to 65-6 from the first 30 overs. Our chase stumbled but was never under scoreboard pressure so it was just a case of staying in. Unfortunately a number of our batsmen failed to go on after doing the hard work of getting themselves in while 2 run outs didn't help our cause. Harry Brook-Dobson top scored with 23. Unfortunately our leading run scorer of the year, George Barker, is missing due to a sore toe.

Team: S McDermott, H Hussain, J Abbott, H Brook-Dobson, W Baker, J Terry, P Hannan, J Hannan, S Holmes, A Hussain, T Pickles

Baildon 3rd XI v Shipley Providence 1st XI - Salts Sport @ 13:30

Leeds Sikh's tenth wicket partnership of 51 hurt the third team last week. They ended up with 153 and, in a team that has been decimated by typical summer holiday availability woes, didn't have the batting strength to chase the total down. They ended up with 72 runs, Ben Fawkes making 21 of them.

Team: D Hodgson, B Fawkes, B Grimmitt, S Miller, L Modhwadia, S Bullock, J Butterfield, T Dixon, P Sunil, D Bell, T Allerton
